Dental Bridges

Dental Bridges are a reliable and effective solution to any gaps, restoring function and aesthetics by replacing the gap with a false tooth using the aid of the tooth/teeth next to it. Dental Bridges prevent your teeth surrounding the gap from drifting out of position,  preventing the need for dentures and restoring your smile.

Why Choose a Dental Bridge?

Dental Bridges are a secure alternative to dentures, as they are fixed in place using crowns. As a more affordable solution to implants, Dental Bridges are a natural-looking option that can not only help to restore an incomplete smile, but also offer a host of other benefits for people.

These benefits include:

  • Improving how you eat and speak
  • Enhancing facial contours
  • Distributing the forces in your bite correctly
  • Preventing remaining teeth from moving out of position

Dental Bridges Procedure

When you visit one of our surgeries, we will first carry out an assessment to check if the teeth supporting the Bridge are healthy and there are no underlying signs of damage.

We will then need to remove a layer of enamel from the supporting teeth, so there is enough room for the crowns, and take a scan of the prepared teeth so that we can send measurements to the dental laboratory where the bridges are made.

While the bridges are being made, we will provide a temporary bridge to protect the teeth so that they are not left exposed. When the custom-made bridge is ready, we will check and adjust it to ensure it fits perfectly, before cementing it into place with strong dental cement.

Types of Dental Bridges

At ConfiDental Clinic, one of our dedicated Dental Surgeons will discuss the three main designs of Dental Bridges available, and advise you on which type will best suit your needs.

Resin Bonded Bridges or Maryland Bridges

Resin Bonded Bridges or Maryland Bridges are the most conservative Dental Bridges to the teeth, as they involve little preparation to the supporting teeth. They have metal ‘wings’ on either side of the false tooth which are cemented on the back surface of the supporting teeth. The artificial tooth’s shade and shape is matched to your surrounding teeth, enabling it to blend in seamlessly with the rest of your teeth.

Fixed Bridges

Fixed Bridges involve preparing the supporting teeth either side for crowns. The artificial tooth replacing the gap is then fixed between both crowns. Fixed bridges are ideal if you wish to improve the aesthetics of your teeth or existing crown either side of the gap.

Dental Bridges vs Implants

Aside from Dental Bridges, Dental implants are also an effective solution to the gaps in your smile. A Dental Implant is a screw made from titanium which is precisely positioned and placed in the bone, acting as an artificial tooth root. Implants are used to support individual false teeth, or they can work in conjunction with Dental Bridges. At ConfiDental Clinic
, our dentists will discuss which options are best suited for your teeth, so that you can feel confident and comfortable with your smile.
